ClicTic & Ellanstone

Discover the value in your business data.

The data generated by running a visitor attraction, venue or event operation may hold more strategic value than is immediately apparent. ClicTic and Ellanstone have developed a structured pathway to help suitable organisations identify, govern and activate that value.

This is an optional progression — not an automatic process. Every step requires explicit client consent. No data is shared without a lawful, contractual and ethical basis.

The six-stage data value pathway

From operational platform to strategic data value — a clear, governed and client-controlled progression.

01

Operate

The organisation uses ClicTic to connect ticketing, admissions, retail, catering, hospitality, memberships, access control and reporting in one integrated platform.

At this stage, the focus is operational efficiency and commercial performance. The platform creates a connected operational data environment as a natural by-product of running the business well.

02

Understand

ClicTic helps the organisation improve visibility of customer behaviour, operational performance, commercial activity and business trends.

Reporting and insight tools help management teams make better decisions based on real evidence — demand patterns, visitor behaviour, secondary spend, seasonal trends and operational performance.

03

Discover

Where appropriate, the organisation is offered an optional data value discovery conversation.

This conversation helps determine whether the organisation possesses underused data, knowledge, relationships or operational intelligence with wider commercial or strategic value. This step is always optional and client-initiated.

04

Assess

With the client's explicit consent, Ellanstone can undertake a structured assessment of the organisation's data maturity, governance, commercial use cases and readiness.

The assessment covers data quality, ownership, governance maturity, commercial use cases, investment readiness and potential Data Asset Foundation suitability. No data is shared with Ellanstone without explicit agreement.

05

Govern

Where a credible use case exists, Ellanstone can help the client develop appropriate governance, legal structures, permissions and commercial models.

This stage involves establishing the frameworks needed to use data appropriately and commercially — including data protection compliance, participation agreements and intellectual property considerations.

06

Activate

The organisation uses its governed data to support strategic decisions, investment readiness, partnerships, innovation or potential Data Asset Foundation participation.

Potential outcomes include better strategic decisions, new products and services, investment readiness, partner relationships, research collaboration and AI development — depending on the nature and quality of the data asset.

ClicTic

ClicTic is the technology and operational platform. It provides Merlin AMS, Merlin Tickets and the connected data environment through which client organisations run their operations.

ClicTic does not provide legal, investment, data valuation or Data Asset Foundation establishment services.

Ellanstone

Ellanstone is the strategic data value, commercialisation and Data Asset Foundation adviser. It helps suitable organisations identify, govern and activate the wider strategic value of their data, systems and relationships.

Ellanstone's involvement is always subject to explicit client consent and appropriate legal basis.

Important: A Data Asset Foundation is not suitable for every organisation. Commercial value cannot be guaranteed. Data valuation must be evidence-based. All statements regarding the Isle of Man Data Asset Foundation framework should be verified against current official sources before any decisions are made. Legal and regulatory advice may be required.

Common questions

What is a Data Asset Foundation?

A Data Asset Foundation is a legally governed structure through which qualifying data assets can be managed, controlled and used for agreed purposes. It is not suitable for every organisation. Data must have a clear purpose and use case, governance is essential, and legal and regulatory advice will typically be required. Ellanstone provides strategic readiness and development support for organisations exploring this route.

How does ClicTic work with Ellanstone?

ClicTic is the technology and operational platform. Ellanstone is the strategic data value, commercialisation and Data Asset Foundation adviser. ClicTic creates the connected operational data environment; Ellanstone helps suitable organisations identify, govern and activate the wider strategic value of their data. The roles remain clearly separated. No client data is passed to Ellanstone without explicit agreement.

Is the data value pathway suitable for my organisation?

The pathway is designed for visitor attractions, venues, event organisers and heritage organisations that generate consistent operational data through their activities. Whether the data holds wider strategic value depends on factors including data quality, consistency, governance maturity and the availability of credible use cases. An initial discovery conversation with ClicTic can help assess suitability.

Can visitor attraction data support investment readiness?

In some cases, yes. Well-governed operational data can provide evidence of commercial performance, audience relationships and operational capability that may be relevant to investors, funders or strategic partners. However, commercial value cannot be guaranteed — it depends on the quality, governance and use case for the data in question.

Could a Data Asset Foundation work for a museum or heritage railway?

Potentially. Cultural, heritage and visitor economy organisations may possess data — attendance patterns, audience demographics, historical records, operational intelligence — that has wider value for research, policy, regional tourism development or AI training. Whether a Data Asset Foundation is appropriate depends on individual circumstances and would require professional assessment.
